Website Hello Giggles plaats hierover onderstaand artiktel.

Hilary Duff is Taking a Stand Against “Period Poverty” for Period Action Day
Through her company Veeda, Duff is giving away period products by the millions.

To celebrate October 10th’s Period Action Day, Hilary Duff launched an initiative that takes a stand against “period poverty.” Duff, who has her own all-natural menstruation product company called Veeda, teamed up with PERIOD, “a global, youth-powered non-profit that is fighting to end period poverty and period stigma through service, education, and advocacy.” Together, they’re donating period products to those in need throughout the month of October.

“The time for ACTION is now!” Duff wrote in an October 10th Instagram post. “Join me in taking a stand against period poverty.”
She continued, “My company @veedanatural and I are teaming up with @periodmovement for the Veeda In Action initiative. From October 10 to October 25 (my daughter Banks’ birthday!), for every subscription box purchased, we’ll donate one subscription box of safe, eco-friendly period care essentials to someone in need.”

Duff explained that she specifically chose Banks’s birthday as the end date for the Veeda In Action Initiative “because it’s important that we empower all of our children to understand that our periods are NOTHING to be ashamed about.”

To join Duff in her fight to end period poverty, you can head over to VeedaUSA.com and sign up for the company’s subscription service. Build your Veeda box from a variety of Veeda’s natural cotton menstruation products (from liners, tampons, and pads to pH balancing wipes), and for every box you receive in the mail, one subscription box will be donated to someone in need.

To date, Veeda has donated 3.1 million tampons and pads to people with periods in over 10 countries.

Though Period Action Day officially takes place on October 10th, the normalization of periods and menstruation is something worth celebrating every day. And as Duff said, menstruating is never something to feel ashamed about—so let’s spread the word of using good-for-you products and help others have a happy period.

… And talk to your sons, not just your daughters, about periods.

As a pre-teen, Lizzie McGuire helped young girls like me prepare for those universally awkward coming-of-age moments, like our first kiss or first bra shopping experience. While we never got an episode about Lizzie learning to use a tampon for the first time, it’s fitting that with Hilary Duff’s new partnership with organic feminine care brand Veeda, she’s helping the next generation of girls — including her daughter — feel less embarrassed about the milestone.

Duff’s role as chief brand officer for the plant-based and eco-friendly line of tampons and pads started organically (no pun intended), she says. After stumbling upon natural diapers on Amazon for her daughter, Banks, from Happy Little Camper, she started working with the company and then learned about their sister brand, Veeda. “Honestly, I was using the same tampons that I had since my mom taught me how to use them, so it opened up this whole new world for me,” Duff says. “I was like, Oh my God. I am making all these good choices for my family and for my kids and what we eat and the perfume that I wear and the products that I shower with and I just never really even thought about it.”

Hilary Duff on growing up in the spotlight and the Lizzie McGuire reboot
“It’s not like I didn’t sneak off and party and get drunk,” says the actress

“‘Woah! What’s that?!'” Hilary Duff is walking me through her mid-century-modern Hollywood home, doing an impression of her husband, Matthew Koma. She takes me past chic velvet curved sofas towards a stylish monochrome tiled kitchen and explains,“I’ve rearranged the house, like, 19 times.

“Matt will come in and the chairs that were in our bedroom are now in the hallway or there’ll be a new piece of art I’ve bought and he’s like, ‘What is going on? Are you OK?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m just bored!’”

With no sign of lockdown easing in Los Angeles when we speak on a video call five months into the pandemic, the 33-year-old actress and former Disney star is almost out of options.

With filming for the seventh series of her TV show Younger on hold, along with other projects, she’s tried walking meditation in the hills around the home she shares with musician Koma and her two children.

When that didn’t work, Duff took up guitar lessons on Zoom, or rather, hiding from her kids in the bathroom twice a week while she practises old-school theme tunes from films like Batman and Mission: Impossible.

And then, of course, there are the “quarantine distanced dinners” with her best mates, as well as looking after her and Koma’s daughter Banks, two, and her son Luca, eight, from her first marriage.

“There are times where I’m like, ‘I need to go and drink too much wine with my girlfriends.’ You know what I mean? My husband’s like, ‘You go, I’ve got the kids.’ He could be in quarantine for years more!

He’s like, ‘We have everything we need, what’s bad about this?’ I’m a homebody too, but I do need to go out with my girlfriends once in a while.”

Hilary Duff in lockdown is basically all of us. This should come as no surprise to anyone who came of age with Duff as the Disney Channel’s teen queen Lizzie McGuire in the early ’00s.
