‘Mature’ is door Billboard verkozen op plek #20 van de best uitgebrachte nummer van 2025!

“She looks like all of your girls but blonder/ A little like me, just younger,” Hilary Duff seethes in the chorus to her long-awaited return single “Mature.” The mild twist of the song is that Duff isn’t decrying her ex for upgrading to the newer model, she’s singing to her own earlier self, back when she was “flattered to hear you say, ‘You’re so mature for your age, babe.’” The song feels appropriately cutting and therapeutic, given muscle by the kind of windows-down guitar-pop groove that made the world fall in love with Carly Rae Jepsen a decade ago, but with enough of a personally detailed touch from Duff — including pop’s all-time most-unexpected “Strawberry Letter 23” reference — that excitement should be at a fever pitch for her full comeback in 2026. — A.U.
