Hilary had gisteren haar eerste optreden in ruim 10 jaar, ze was in Londen voor het eerst optreden van haar ‘Small Rooms, Big Nerves’ tour. De eerste foto’s staan in de galerij en klik op meer voor de setlist en enkele video’s van het concert. Zo speelde ze o.a. 2 nog niet uitgekomen nummer van haar aankomende album en vele bekende favorieten uit het verleden! O.a. haar man Matthew en beste vriendin Lauren waren meegereisd naar de Britse hoofdstad om haar bij te staan.

In onderstaande tiktok verteld Hilary hoe het is om binnenkort weer live op te treden na 10 jaar. Helaas zelf geen ticket kunnen bemachtigen voor de liveshow vanavond in Londen :( maar hopelijk verschijnen er welke mooie clips en foto’s om te posten…. dan kunnen we toch een beetje meegenieten.

“Roommates,” paired with a video that reminds us of her “Come Clean” days, is one of her best songs in years

Lizzie McGuire turned 25 years old this week, but there’s no need to live in the past. After some teasing, Hilary Duff has dropped another single, off her upcoming album Luck …or Something.

Co-written by Duff, her husband, musician Matthew Koma, and Brian Phillips, “Roommates” is a pop stunner about losing the spark in a relationship. With razor-sharp lyrics and bright, synth-heavy production reminiscent of Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” it’s easily one of her best songs in years. “I only want the beginning, I don’t want the end/I want the part where you say goddamn,” she sings. “Back of a dive bar/Giving you head/Then sneak home late/Wake up your roommates.”

The video above, directed by Matty Peacock, features Duff alongside a partner she’s drifting apart from. It begins to rain as she makes a run for it, reminding us of her “Come Clean” days. How did we make it 10 years without any new music?

“’Roommates’ is a song about when life is life-ing, babe,” says Hilary. “It’s that ache for a wilder, freer time — before the days were swallowed by carpools, budget talks, grocery runs and letting old or new insecurities slip in. It’s the restless hum of wanting to find your way back — to your rhythm, to your person, to yourself.”

Luck …or Something, out Feb. 20 via Atlantic, marks Duff’s first new album since 2015’s Breathe In. Breathe Out. “Roommates” follows her return single “Mature,” which arrived back in November. Shortly after, she announced the Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour, which sold-out immediately (if you missed out on scoring tickets to those, don’t worry: she’s already teased more shows). In May, she’ll head to Las Vegas for a residency. As a young Hilary once said, we can’t wait.

As she returns to music with renewed honesty, Duff examines what happens to desire when life gets in the way

After nearly a decade away from releasing new music, Hilary Duff is stepping back into the pop spotlight. Her new single, “Roommates,” arrives with a striking music video and signals a quietly radical return: one that trades teen fantasy for emotional fluency, romantic realism, and the accumulated weight of adult life. The track is the latest preview of luck… or something, her forthcoming album out February 20 via Atlantic Records, and it captures a familiar, rarely articulated tension — the moment when love doesn’t disappear, but passion dulls under the logistics of living.

Co-written with her husband, Matthew Koma, “Roommates” sits at the intersection of intimacy and exhaustion, desire and domesticity. It’s a song about what happens when long-term partnership collides with work, children, responsibility, and the fear of becoming strangers under the same roof. As Duff prepares for her sold-out Small Rooms, Big Nerves shows — her first headline concerts in more than a decade — she is also opening up in ways she hasn’t in years, reflecting on ego, communication, physical closeness, and what it means to reconnect not only with a partner, but with herself.

Let’s start off with one of the first lyrics from the song. Can you tell me what “ego trauma” means?
For me, ego trauma is when you tell someone something you’re feeling—something personal between the two of you, something you’re struggling with—and you say, “Hey, I need this,” or whatever the conversation is. And that person takes it as an attack on their character. They feel diminished or embarrassed. It becomes a blow to their ego, instead of them being able to hear what you’re actually asking for. It’s like you can barely mention something you’re feeling without causing ego trauma—like, you’re going to completely spin out because I’m asking for what I need.

I am so happy to know this term right now. I’m looking out the window thinking, “How many times has this happened to me? How many times have I had to walk on eggshells to make sure I don’t give other people ego trauma?” That is such a useful way of putting it.
It really applies to every relationship in your life—whether it’s work, a friend, or your partner. In this case, I’m singing to my partner, but still. You’re always thinking, “How do I soften this so you don’t spin out and feel rejected, humiliated, or diminished?” And it’s actually not about you at all—it’s about me. I just want to talk about how to feel good for everyone involved.

You also sing, “Physical affection goes a long way with me.” There are definitely some fun, slightly risqué parts of the song, and that line really stands out. Would you say that’s your main love language? Do you even entertain conversations around love languages?
I entertain all conversations like that, because I love it. I love anything that’s a little bit psychic-adjacent, anything where you dig in and try to understand who you are and why you behave the way you do. So I’m totally into love languages. But I also feel like I’m someone who needs a little bit of all of them. I’m a Libra, so I need balance and health in all aspects.

Gisteren was het precies 25 jaar geleden dat ‘Lizzie McGuire’ voor het eerste te zien was Disney Channel in Amerika!

In samenwerking met Hilary en haar platenlabel komt Graffiti Record met een eigen exclusieve LP van haar album ‘Luck… Or Something’. Naast een nieuwe coverfoto zal het album ook twee exclusieve versies bevatten van de eerder uitgebrachte nummers ‘Why Not’ en ‘Come Clean’. De LP is de komende twee dagen gelimiteerd via hun website te koop.

Actrice Ashley Tisdale heeft afgelopen week een essay genaamd “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group” gepubliceerd in The Cut. Hierin verwijst ze naar de toxische vriendengroep van moeders waar ze uit is gestapt. Ze legt uit dat ze toch niet het ‘dorp’ van vrienden had die ze dacht gevonden te hebben en ook regelmatig zag op sociale media dat ze zonder haar afspraken. Hiervoor voelde ze zicht buiten gesloten en besloot uiteindelijk het contact te verbreken via een bericht: “This is too high school for me and I don’t want to take part in it anymore.”. Hoewel Ashley in het artikel geen namen noemt speculeerde de media al snel dat het om de vriendengroep ging van o.a. Hilary, Mandy Moore en Megan Trainor. Ashley volgt inmiddels zowel Hilary als Mandy Moore niet meer op Instragram.

De vertegenwoordiger van Ashley liet weten dat het niet om die specifieke vriendengroep zou graag en het door de media clickbait is gemaakt. Hilary zelf heeft nog niet gereageerd op de berichtgeving, haar man Matthew wel. Een dag later postte hij een bericht op zijn instagramstory waarin hij de foto van Ashley voor het interview namaakt met de “quote “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers. A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes”. Hilary’s zus Haylie zou volgens media ook een kant gekozen hebben, doordat ze de post van Ashley geliket heeft. Sinds 2019 hebben de zussen zelf geen contact meer.
